A bit of background on Cross Street Records
The new Melbourne based, artist run label Cross Street Recordings (CSR) harks back to an old model to deal with new problemCSR models a subscription-based series- similar to the idea of the Reader’s Digest Record Club, way back in the olden times, crafted for listeners wanting to actively discover, and connect with experimental sounds.
For its first series, subscribers will receive five new records, plus two backlog issues from artists participating in the series; The Bright Angles, Trip!, Eliot Lamb, Gemma Horbury, The Invisibles, IshIsh, Streamers.
The sounds featured in this series are diverse and varied, featuring forms of narrative spoken word over emotive ambient sounds, stripped back drums and horns, new interpretations of classic jazz standards and textural improvised music.
All records are available as high quality digital files or hard copy CDs (at artist’s discretion).
